"The stench is foul." Ramza wrinkled his nose.

"More than the stench is foul about here," Mustadio warned. "Be on your guard."

There was a stirring amidst the muddy bracken that warned the group of the unpleasant arrivals. "Ugh!" groaned Sylvie, gripping the edge of her cape firmly in her hands. "So now it's not bad enough that the only land route to Goug is through seven miles of muck, but we've got undead on our tail too?"

The skeletal creatures burst through the underbrush into the open mire of the fen. Sylvie let the cape she had managed to protect thus far fall through her fingers to drag in the thick mud as she pulled her sword loose and slammed her way through a creature made entirely of bones. Chipped fragments of ossified matter flew through the air, bouncing off rocks and cloaks.

"There are too many!" Wilham shouted, struggling to keep his footing as he grappled with a one-eyed, winged creature that raked its talons across his face.

"Follow my lead!" Mustadio yelled, "I know more than my fair share of tricks for dealing with the likes of these!" He reached into his tool pouch and, with a dramatic flair, tossed a phoenix down onto the creature to his left, which shriveled up and fell to the ground in a heap of decaying flesh.

The others heeded his advice and put their large supply of healing items to good use striking left and right in an unexpected assault on their enemies. "Whew!" Ramza wiped his brow, smeared with sweat, rain, and mud, "That wasn't as bad as I expected. You really knew how to handle those monsters."

"Ah, it's nothing," Mustadio shrugged. "You get used to it when you travel around here. And when you're digging around the underground ruins, you never know when you're going to suddenly encounter something unsavory and you have to be prepared for any eventuality."

"Well, your experience has obviously served you well," Ramza answered appreciatively. Sylvie threw her arm around Mustadio's shoulders and Isabella focused her few remaining spells on healing the party as they slogged the rest of the way into Goug.
