Anakin knew he shouldn't have done anything, no matter the temptation. Obi-Wan's precious code would allow for nothing else and now it was ruined. Now his former Master would drift away, distancing himself and hanging onto the code like it was a life saver. No matter how much the rejection hurt Anakin was determined to carry on as if nothing had happened. He'd show Obi-Wan he'd make a great Jedi yet.
Anakin had meant to go after his former master but he had seemingly disappeared. It was unlike Obi-Wan to depart before at least wishing Anakin farewell. if anything, it was more a move Anakin would have pulled if the positions had been reversed. Or maybe he'd stay and brood, much like he was doing now. The point was however, that while Anakin had been wrong and Obi-Wan right, Anakin was the one that had stayed.
He remembered a time when he had tried to please Obi-Wan by acting the way he knew Obi-Wan wanted him to, strictly by the code, but it hadn’t worked. He had felt hollow, as if he wasn’t whole. He had learned the hard way that he could never be that person, his emotions made him whole and to him that was more precious than anything else.
Sometimes he wondered why he even thought he loved Ob-Wan. They were friends, Padawan and Master, they had a working relationship and yet . . . . It was still there, lurking. It taken time for him to understand, to speak the words Obi-Wan had given him. Everything Obi-Wan had wanted him to hide was everything that made him feel alive. Despite that, Anakin was still here, waiting for Obi-Wan to return and hoping that maybe they could get over this.
