[May 9, 2008][Suikoden] Artist's Muse

Day/Theme: May 9, 2008 "She was my first, she was my last, she was my friend until the end"
Series: Suikoden
Character/Pairing: Ivanov, Cleo, Kiri

"That's a painting you've working on," Cleo smiled as she watched Ivanov mix the acrylic daubs on his palate to create a precise peach tone for the face he was painting one brushstroke at a time.

Slightly startled, Ivanov's hand shook noticeably, sliding a line of paint across the palate. He didn't mind being watched as he worked, but he preferred knowing he had an observer than realizing it halfway through by accident. "Thank you."

Cleo leaned the large basket of laundry she had been in the process of carrying down to Sarah against her hip to give her arms a bit of a rest while she stopped to admire the artist's latest work. "Is that a girl you know or someone from your imagination?"

Ivanov stepped slightly to the side of his easel to give Cleo a better view of his work. "I'm basing the location on some sketches I've made of the castle. The girl is Kiri, my muse."

"Oh, I can see how that rough stonework you've penciled onto the wall is a lot like this place. You're really a true pro, Ivanov. You're not finished yet and her face already looks alive. I can feel her eyes gazing at me." Cleo shifted the weight of the heavy laundry basket a little more and stepped closer to inspect the careful dabs and dashes that created the illusion of depth on the woman's face. "You don't even need her to come and model in person you're so good."

"I have memorized each freckled on her face, but I still wish she were here. I've already been quite inspired since escaping Scarleticia and with Kiri at my side, I imagine my creativity would increase tenfold."

"Is there anything I can do to help you summon her here?" Cleo inquired, interested in seeing what the pretty woman would bring to his already stunning artwork.

"Well, you can ask the young lord and the ninja to keep an eye out for her, but we lost touch when General Oppenheimer forced me into his service, so I don't even know what may had happened to her in the mess of this war, but she came from Forest Village."

Heading off to finally meet with Sarah, Cleo promised to at least pass on the word. "Anything in the service of art, Ivanov."
