[May 6, 2008][Suikoden III] (Mock?) Battles

Title: (Mock?) Battles
Day/Theme: May 6, 2008 "They only let him go so wrong out of kindness, I suppose"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Sasarai, Lucas, Nika, Lilly
Rating: PG

"The thing about Lilly Pendragon," Nika declared firmly, "Is that she is a spoiled brat."

Lucas laughed heartily, tossing back his head and allowing his bangs to flip cheerily across his forehead. Sasarai smiled, but did not indulge in such an extreme reaction.

"You can't afford to laugh!" Nika scowled at the Paquinite, though without much bite in her tone. "You're exactly the same!"

"Hey! Hey! I take offense at that! I am merely a fortunate soul whose parents were able to provide for well and always look out for the best of," Lucas protested in his usually comically irritable tone. "And Sasarai's spoiled too! Level that charge evenly!"

"Sasarai is not like you and Lilly!" Nika disagreed. "Your every whim was catered to! And you can deny it about yourself, but you can't deny it about Lilly! Her father might have only meant well, but she's still a pampered princess!"

"Fine, whatever, I give," Lucas shrugged, "Say it's true if you like."

"You and Lilly make a real pair," Sasarai noted, "Is she too young for you or are you going to pursue her? You up to inheriting a nice place in Tinto?" The brunette winked playfully and gave Lucas a teasing shove to the shoulder.

"Marry Lilly?!" Lucas scoffed at the idea, "We'd drive each other insane! That union would end in a double murder!"

"Well, it'd be really loud for a while and then the region would become exceptionally tranquil," Nika said as though she would relish the experience. After an uncomfortable pause, while Lucas narrowed his eyes angrily and drew his mouth into a thin, taut line, Nika burst out laughing and Sasarai, relieved at the break in the tension, began to giggle softly into his sleeve.

"If that's the attitude of you under-privileged, non-spoiled Second Class Citizens I'm proud to be what I am!" the opinionated Paquinite turned up his nose snootily.

"Now, now, Lucas," Sasarai tried to mediate this mock (he hoped it was false) dispute. "You both make some good points and you both can't be anything but what you are. I think you are both wonderful people, though very different in temperament. I would not change anything about either of you. And I think all three of us can agree that Lilly is more of a pain than anyone else we know."

"That doesn't stop either of you from being friends with her," Nika observed.

"I can only take her in small amounts," the bishop clarified.
