Keitaro watched Motoko practice kendo with a bamboo practice sword.

"Wow," Keitaro suddenly said. "You sure are good with a sword, Motoko."

Motoko paused, and glared at Keitaro. "Are you familiar with the Shinmei-ryuu school of swordsmanship?" she asked.

"Nope," Keitaro said.

"Do you know anything about kenjutsu, or anything at all about sword-fighting?" Motoko asked.

"Nope," Keitaro said again.

"In that case," Motoko said icily, "you cannot deny that your compliment is empty and meaningless."

"Nope," Keitaro said yet again.

Motoko sighed. "Ah well. It is the thought that counts... even if no thought was actually put into it."
