[Mar 4] [Lady in the Water] Proven

Day/Theme: 4. This scar I carry proudly.

Story was the first queen narf of her age to return to the Blue World successful.
Her fellows were joyful, but perhaps a little too surprised. Their congratulations and questions all faded when they saw her leg though. Cleveland had healed her marks away from human sight, but the other narfs could see it and knew exactly what it was. The Great Eatlon had brought home enough dead and dying narfs for them to recognize a scrunt’s handiwork. They lived in fear of the creatures and were amazed that timid, clumsy Story had not only faced one of them, but survived an attack.
That amazement was tripled when they learned that Story was one of their queens. Even as prophetic as narfs were, they hadn’t expected that. And just as Story had inspired the human vessel, she now inspired her own kind. If she could do it, so could they. The scrunts could be beaten. The world could be changed.
The proof was cut into Story’s flesh. It told of a hope for better things that was worth dying for, of friends found in strange places, and healing born out of pain. She had changed both worlds.
