[August 29] [Bleach] Mountains Falling
Title: Mountains Falling
Day/Theme: August 29th - “Hatred is holy”
Series: Bleach
Characters: Byakuya & Renji
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Set after the Soul Society arc.
Mountains Falling
Of all shinigami, I hate death the most.
He’s feeling rather brittle today. Maybe it’s the dry wind from the window, or the rasp of another game piece as Renji finally makes a move, but each breath seems to crinkle like paper, crumble like ash. He feels rather distant and a glimpse of the outside world makes him turn his head, his gaze seeking the colors beyond the window. Dark strands of his hair fall into his face and he doesn’t bother to push them out of his eyes.
He isn’t aware that Renji is watching him, not the board, and is thinking his Captain looks suddenly very young and pale, a combination that makes him uneasy. Renji is used to ice and winter and a flat stare that can level mountains. He doesn’t know what to say to contemplation and pain and memories so he just moves another piece and tries not to notice. Maybe when his Captain is free to leave the hospital he’ll see mountains falling again. Maybe.
Byakuya just wonders how he never noticed the iris blooming outside his window before.
