Venus is a stranger, their leader, a dear comrade. Venus is a mystery that Rei wants very much to understand; and she has watched Venus more intently than politeness dictates, trying to understand the whys and hows of her. Rei searches for answers, for reasons, and is always falling short of understanding.

Rei has slowly gathered pieces of the puzzle that is Venus. The picture is far from complete, but Rei knows more of Venus than anyone alive in the here and now.

Rei watches Venus, still, always: counts each breath she takes, the rapid rise and fall of her chest. She is Sailor Mars, and Venus is as she ever was. Mars curls her hands into fists and knows her help to be unwelcome.

Venus' chest heaves; she draws a breath, another.

Rei understand this, feels it with all of her heart: Venus is important, and Rei will not tolerate a world without her.
