I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet

Almost morning. A wan, pre-dawn light filters in through the blinds. He doesn't see it, though. He's dreaming, reliving past lives. Names and faces stream past, projected on the inside of his head. Etched into his memory. Names. Dutifully copied into the archives, relegated to lines in a dry, dusty tome.

Some cursed him as they died, because once upon a time, their orders were only to record. The Clan's become a tiny bit more flexible over the millenia. Still, some things don't change.

When far away an interrupted cry

The sound of running. Footsteps echoing down the centuries. Another doomed Finder presumably says the inner Bookman, the detached, jaded part of him that has watched through the years. The akuma's tower over Edo, ponderous masses of steel powered by tortured souls.

"Come. I'll fly you up. Then at least you'll have a chance."

She looks at him, determination blazing forth from her eyes, daring him to deny her. The star on her forehead, the mark of the Akuma seems almost to have burned itself into her skin.

He looks at Bookman who clicks his tongue at him before nodding tersely.

Then they're off. Chomesuke ducking and weaving in her headlong flight towards the Akuma, dodging the lurid purple bullets as they streak past.

Came over houses from another street,

"I'm glad to have been of service. Lavi."

A sad cloud of smoke is all that remains of her. It lingers a while, before being is torn apart by the wind.

But not to call me back or say good-bye;

The alarm clock rings, jolting him out of sleep. Another day in the war against the Earl.

Still, he thinks to himself. I will not forget.
