[february 26] [original] riches
Title: Riches
Day/Theme: February 26/"We deceive ourselves"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Alexandria
Rating: PG
Words: 525
Notes: Action scenes give me some trouble. Yay irony!
Her hands curled around her deserted fighting fans and the young thief flinched in pain when she felt something pop in her back; her scrapes from battle still didn’t have a proper chance to heal and she was positive her hasty plunge into the water had done something to her arm and balance. Alexandria turned her head to look at her unfortunate and ragged companion. Douglas’ hand was tight on his sword as he faced the direction where their attackers escaped.
Sticking her fans into the holster resting on her hips, Alexandria huffed a grunt of frustration. "Well this sucks."
Alexandria’s hand never left her hips after she noticed the pirate’s grip increase on his cutlass. "I’m not going to believe it." She noted that his voice was quieter than usual and the slight hitch in his tone betrayed his statement.
For once, the young woman kept her anger under control; instead of stomping her foot and tossing her hair, she crossed her arms over her chest. "I told you. Me, Jem, and Rey heard him plotting to overthrow you. If he didn’t do it, how the heck would you explain your crew att-"
To say the least, she wasn’t surprised when he turned his cutlass in her direction; her hand pulled out one of her fans quickly, flung it open, and blocked the edge from pushing into her throat; in her mind, she cursed the fact that Jem and Chaos were still on the ship and unable to back her up.
"I’ve known Roderick since I was 15! That’s 14 years of my life. What the hell would you know about him?!" She didn’t need to see the anger splashed on his face; she could tell that his body was shaking through the connection between metal and steel and she heard his loud, heavy breathing.
"Who the hell cares," she barked as she snapped her wrist forward and swatted his sword away. Now she was losing her temper more than usual; she stomped her foot, snapped her fan shut, and pointed it at him in irritation. “Money changes and corrupts people! It may not have changed you but it sure as hell changed your first mate!" Her face softened for a brief period. "Why can’t you accept that?”
When the pirate captain failed to answer her and made no movement, she sucked in a breath to keep her calm and soon found out that it did not work on her. Alexandria practically slammed her fan back into its holster and pushed her way past him; she heard a hitch in his breath and the sound of flapping cloth but she ignored him and kept walking away from him.
"Where are you going kid?"
She fought the urge to laugh in arrogance and disbelief. "Where the hell do you think I’m going? Your stupid ex-crew stole that statuette I was trying so hard to obtain." She swore she heard a snort at her last statement; Alexandria fought back the urge to whip out a fan and thrust it at his head; she would show him when she finally retrieved her treasure from his mutinous crew.
