[Feb 24] [Magic Kaitou] No Allowances for Pity

Title: No Allowances for Pity
Author: Fyliwion
Fandom: Magic Kaitou
Pairing: Aoko/Kaito
Theme: Feb 24- “I cannot read therefore let all the books be burned”
Rating; PG-13
Disclaimer: Oh yeah… Not mine…

Kaito knew he was the one to blame, after all it was KID that had been the motivation for the new detective to move to the area. Hakuba had nothing on the Yamaguchi guy, at least if you wanted to compare how irritating they could be. After a while Hakuba at least had proven himself to have a good grounding in honor, and thinking things through.

Hakuba could also judge things fairly, and while his ideas may be somewhat skewed Kaito could respect him just as he could Nakamori.

Yamaguchi Wakeo was as straight forward as that Osakan detective, and for him everything was in black and white. Thieves evil. Inspectors righteous. Police good. Stealing bad. And he would do everything he could to achieve something that he wanted, with no petty thief getting in his way.

Kaito could have dealt with the man if that had been everything, unfortunately the problem lay far deeper than simply where the line between morality lay. They say at the center of every crises lies a woman, and in this case their was a little too much truth. Yamaguchi had proven himself to be quite enamored with the Inspector’s daughter.

It didn’t help Aoko had gone a couple dates to humor him as well. Except it was shortly into the whole thing that she found out Kaito was KID, during one especially trying heist. As if to spite the thief focused even more of her attention on her “boyfriend,” and leaving Kaito wondering if he really had lost her for good.

Until the night they thought KID had gotten shot, and he got home to find someone attempting to bust down his door with hammering, only to open it and find Aoko looking at him with a look of terror. She’d thrown herself in his arms, tears still streaming down her cheeks from where she’d thought he’d really been killed, and one thing had lead to another.

A hug led to a reassuring kiss, a kiss led to another kiss, and he’d pushed the door shut as her fingers ran across him as though assuring herself he really hadn’t been shot. She’d woken up in his bed the next morning, and her already falling apart relationship with the detective had come to a close.

Except that Yamaguchi was not one to be scorned or lost for that matter, and neither Kaito nor Aoko had expected he’d be quite as possessive as he proved to be. The man had apparently truly fallen hard for the girl, and was no idiot. He’d seen enough of the Kuroba boy, and heard enough of Hakuba’s past theories to make his own judgments. The idea of losing Aoko to a common criminal, the idea was repulsive.

If he could not have her, than like hell anyone else would- especially a thief.

He didn’t understand the man’s motives, and had no reason to. He’d just see the man destroyed, and make sure that the Nakamori girl was back in his arms if he had to drag the thief back to the station in chains.

So be it-

But the man was patient. He knew how to lay still and wait, until the very last moment when he could pounce. His revenge would take time, but it would be final. So it was that he just happen to find the right evidence just a month after the pair announced their engagement, and he managed to gain his warrant for arrest the day before the pair’s wedding.

He personally felt it was quite the wedding gift, when he showed up just before Kuroba’s bachelor party to put in for his arrest. The only real loss was that Yamaguchi couldn’t arrest Nakamori’s daughter, he didn’t quite have the evidence for that… yet. He hoped she might give herself away on the stand.

Yamaguchi thought it was the only fitting punishment, after all the man was about to attempt to enjoy a happy life that should have been his. He couldn’t understand why several detectives turned away from him saying that Yamaguchi was too cold. The Eastern one, Kudo, went as far to say the man just proved his idiocy by not having actually done his research. The one that had been an expert on KID before he went back to England, Hakuba Saguru, went as far to call him and lecture him about KID’s ethics. He felt it simply explained why the thief had never been caught before, if all the detectives let their emotions get in the way like this.

How could they just treat the whole thing as a game? The man was a criminal! The man had tricked the Inspector’s daughter into loving him. The man was a trickster and annoyance to Japan.

He deserved what he got.

Even when the love of Yamaguchi’s life, walked up and slapped him. Cursed him. Screamed at him and told him he was nothing, it was still the most gratifying moment of his life. He knew the thief had corrupted the innocent girl. She might never be able to forgive him, but now at least the thief would never have her.

Only the detective had been so wound up with catching the thief, that he had never considered the Lupin of Japan might escape. In one night both Kuroba Kaito and Nakamori Aoko simply disappeared. Their was no evidence, no trail, no sign of any sort they may have been on that path.

Except for one little note that he found on his desk nearly a week later:

My Dear Detective,

I’m afraid you mistimed your decision to arrest me. While my wife and I are both quite unhappy with your decision to make it trying for us to visit Japan, we think we have some ideas for our new home after a bit of traveling. We are enjoying our honeymoon immensely, though especially without my career hanging over our heads.

Bringing us to the subject of KID. I’m afraid if are probably under the misconception you will be finding me through my heists; however, you failed to listen to the advice of Hakuba I am certain. As Inspector Nakamori has known for over a month now (I’m sure you won’t grudge him for not telling you after how lovely you treated his daughter) I have officially retired.

If you had spent less of your time attempting to catch me, and perhaps a little more understanding the situation maybe you would understand why. Or perhaps if you had actually considered how long I had known Aoko-chan you might have considered why it had taken us so long to actually get married. I wasn’t aware it was a usual process that courtships today still took several years.

I’ll leave that for you to puzzle out.

I know you won’t take my advice, but really, please don’t waste your time searching for us. There are over six billion in the world, and well I’m sure both you have better things to do.

Thank You.

Kaitou KID

P.S: You’ll have to forgive us, but we simply had to revoke your invitation to the wedding.

I think you’ll understand.
