Haruhi was pulling books from the club-room shelves and tossing them in a box. Kyon walked up. "What are you doing?" he asked Haruhi.

"The Literature Club saved some discarded textbooks and magazine digests," Haruhi said. "I need some shelf space, so I'm throwing them out."

Kyon turned to Yuki, who was watching from her chair. "Miss Nagato?" he asked. "Are you OK with this?"

Yuki hung her head. "Those books are of little value," she said quietly, "and I respect Haruhi's wishes."

Kyon kneeled in front of Yuki. "Are you crying?" he asked her gently.

"Yes," Yuki said matter-of-factly.
