[Feb 17] [World of Darkness] Good A Place As Any

Title: Good A Place As Any
Day/Theme: Feb. 17 - “All places are alike, and every earth is fit for burial”
Series: World of Darkness
Character/Pairing: Bone Gnawer, Red Talon
Rating: PG

“You!” The voice was a bark. “Not here!”

“Can’t be helped,” Marco called back. The Red Talon came into sight. It was in Hispo form, all shoulders and teeth and sigils of renown painted in blood on the brown pelt. It loped along over the ground, catching up to the Bone Gnawer in only a few strides.

“Not here!” it screamed again. Marco had been smart enough to come here in his wolf form and stupid enough to hope that that would be enough. He squinted over his shoulder at the much larger werewolf.

“Can’t stop!” He shouted back. “Hunting!”

“No.” It’s voice lowered to a growl. “Not you. Not here.” It was close enough to bite him now.

Marco laid his ears flat and shifted to his own Hispo form. It wasn’t nearly as impressive as the Talon’s, but rival Garou packs treated each other much like rival gangs did. Marco was a city street Bone Gnawer and out of his turf, but he knew a show of power would be needed.

“There’s work to do!” He hoped his feral cousin could grasp that concept. “I’m tracking a femori!”

“You brought that filth here??” The Talon’s voice rose into a bellow. The smell of it’s Rage sent Marco running a little faster.

“You didn’t stop it??” he roared back. “You challenge me, but let that Wyrm-spawn pass without a challenge??”

The Talon screamed a wordless howl of disgust and fury. It’s jaws snapped, throwing froth. It was running alongside Marco now, but its aggression had been redirected.

“You go home!” It ordered. “Back to the stinking city. This is my home. I’ll kill it. I’m stronger than you and in my own territory.”

“I’ve chased that thing all the way from the Everglades!” Marco snapped back. “It’s my hunt!”

“Human-fed weakling! You wouldn’t have gone to live among the weak if you were strong enough to survive the woods! You’ll die here. Die in your own lands!”

Marco actually laughed at that. The sound surprised the Talon out of the worst of its temper.

“I can die as easy in the woods as I can in the city,” Marco said. “Whether you or the fomori kill me, one place is as good as any. But I have work to do. Come with if you want, but don’t get in my way.”
