The girls were watching late-evening television with Tenchi. "Sasami?" said Tenchi during a commercial break. "It's bed-time."

"'Kay," said Sasami. "Can I have a goodnight kiss?"

"No," Tenchi said firmly.

"Wha— why not?" Sasami said sadly. "If you had a little sister, wouldn't you kiss her goodnight?"

"Under other circumstances, I would," Tenchi said, "but unless you can save us from certain death..." He gestured to the other girls, all of whom were jealously staring at them with angry scowls.

Sasami whimpered under their silent hostile glare. "I wish I hadn't asked before bed-time. Now I'm going to have nightmares."
