She could almost be angry that they had wasted so much time that they could’ve spent together, except that the time hadn’t been wasted. He had been building, planning, setting things in motion. And she had been becoming a new person altogether.

Now all that was left to them was a dance. She wished there was more. More she could give him. More for them both to look forward to. More time to find those things. If only.

When tomorrow came, the world would be a different place. That’s what they both could look forward to. All that she would have left of him though was a memory of music and the feel of warm scars through his clothes.

So she closed her eyes, partly to hold back tears, and partly to savor the last few moments left.
