[february 11] [original] rewards and consequences

Title: Rewards and Consequences
Day/Theme: February 11/"Confess and be hanged"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Kayl
Rating: G
Words: 358

The feeling in her arms disappeared with every spell she made. She could still move them just like before (for this she was grateful) but she felt strange moving things that didn’t seem to be attached to her body.

She never complained about it; the elf leader told her that there would be consequences for a human using magic but he was unable to specify what exactly would happen to her.

Kayl doubted that Driel and Medea suspected anything major was happening to her; both were originally ignorant of the workings of elven magic when they first went to their village. Medea constantly worried about the human girl constantly wrapping her arms in bandages but Kayl kindly brushed the water dragon’s worries away; at first the bandages were used to heal her wounds but now she had some strange belief that they would bring some feelings into her arms.

She was certain that Raz definitely suspected something was wrong with her; he was the only one among them that knew quite a few things about elven magic and he had been watching her movements ever since she rescued him from drowning. She avoided him to the best of her ability but it failed to work for long.

He grabbed her arm one day to stop her from running away from him; she only knew he grabbed her when she noticed that she couldn’t move away from him. Kayl’s gaze moved away from his eyes as he kept firing questions about what was wrong with her; instead of responding to any of his questions, she told meekly him that his grip was painful. She could tell from his irritated frown that this was not true. Despite that, he let go of her and said that he would be waiting for an honest reply later.

Kayl didn’t want to tell anyone what was happening to her; she was tired of being protected. She wanted to start fending for herself and stop being a damsel in distress. She didn’t care about losing the feeling in her arms; she just had a strong desire to help her friends no matter the cost.
