Character/Pairing: Aloysius Pendergast and Lt. Vincent D’Agosta

They were like a whole family full of Batman villains, Vince remembered thinking. All of them brilliant, masters of whichever advanced field they had chosen, and most of them making obscene amounts of money from it. There didn’t seem to be any ordinary Pendergasts. The entire clan seemed to be super-intelligent, filthy rich, and with only one known exception, remorseless killers.
They were different from other people. Not just smarter, but more willing to cross lines that other people flinched from. Evil seemed to hover over them, perhaps sensing their potential.
But, Vince decided, shaking of his morbid musings. If any of them was a match for the Devil, it would be Aloysius.
