It couldn’t be true. Not in a world of will. The very intensity of her desire should’ve brought him to her.
Even if it hadn’t been possible, he should’ve acknowledged her love for him. Should’ve felt something. How could he possibly feel nothing??
Dying at his feet like this would’ve been worth it if only it had been for a reason. He had killed her, she who would’ve gladly died for him. Even now, she would‘ve done anything for him, if he had only knelt and whispered that her sacrifice had won the day for him.
He turned away without her, though. And walked away. To where the one he loved was. Leaving her to die, still reaching for him.
