Mikuru served tea to Kyon, and asked him a personal question while Haruhi was out of earshot. "Kyon-kun, did you fall in love with Haruhi at first sight?"

Kyon did a spit-take. "Wha— where did you get that idea!?"

Mikuru giggled. "I overheard Taniguchi talking."

Kyon resolved to kill Taniguchi later. "Well... I must admit, I thought she was a stunning beauty. What was your first reaction to Haruhi?"

"I think," Mikuru said sincerely, "it was something like, 'WAIT, WHAT DO YOU WANT, PLEASE STOP, LET GO OF ME, SOMEBODY HELP ME!!"

"That was a more appropriate reaction," Kyon noted.
