[1.31.08] [Tales of the Abyss] Child
Title: Child
Day/Theme: 1.31.08 // vague, tangled, chaotic, and exceedingly disturbing
Series: Tales of the Abyss
Character/Pairing: Van
Rating: PG-13
[Van goes to Silent Hill]
He doesn’t know why he’s here.
He shouldn’t be here because there are things that shouldn’t even exist and and and—
He rounds the corner and that’s when he sees her, a little pregnant red-headed girl, looking much too young to actually be pregnant, holding a little bundle.
She’s too innocent looking; is she lost too?
He approaches her, cautiously, gaining confidence when she doesn’t try to rip into the flesh of his legs or scream and cry at him.
“Are you lost?” he asks. She just stares at him with her empty doe eyes, holding her little bundle. “Do you need some help?”
She just holds her little bundle out to him, doe eyes empty; she doesn’t say a word.
He peek in and it screams, shrieks, bloody little body writhing and convulsing, umbilical cord hanging like a dead weight from its stomach.
He stumbles back, trying to escape the blood-curdling screeches, but the little girl follows him, that familiar little girl matches every step he takes.
He trips and falls back and she’s standing over him, forcing him to look at that ungodly mess of flesh and blood.
“It’s yours,” she says, voice quiet and shy. “Take it.”
She drops it on him and he scrambles up, pushing that, that thing away from him but it’s too late, it’s too late, it’s already touched him.
It rolls from its blanket and shrieks more, wails and writhes and leaves blood in its wake.
“Take it,” the little girl says again, picking up her monster and cradling him in her arms. “He’s yours.”
Van’s gone in a flash, running as far and as fast as his legs will take him.
When he can’t run anymore he collapses, falls to his knees, and purges his stomach before it could even register that he wanted too.
When his stomach is finally empty he gags and shakes, trembles, because he’s realized the most frightening thing of all;
it is his.
