Summary: An inner argument between Alessa and Cheryl

“Daddy! Daddy! I want my daddy! Let me see my daddy now!” Alessa can hear that voice screaming inside of her, and she grimaces. It hurts in ways that she feels a person can’t imagine. The screaming in her consciousness, and that damned deity making it’s presence known by whispering cruel things in her mind.

“Shup up!” Alessa snaps at Cheryl. Cheryl remains silent for a minute. “Daddy can save us. Daddy’s a strong man. One day there was this monster in my closet and he scared him away!” Cheryl explains in a child like way. Alessa pauses, and thinks for a moment. “This isn’t an ordinary monster Cheryl.”

“Or one time some mean people were picking on me and daddy saved me!” Cheryl said with prideful urgency.

Alessa glared, “THIS ISN’T SOME IMAGINARY MONSTER OR MEAN PEOPLE WE’RE DEALING WITH!”, she screams out loud. There’s a still silence, and the silence becomes so thick that one could cut it with a knife. Alessa gets the sense that this isn’t going to last though.

She’s right. In a minute she hears Cheryl sobbing. They’re so loud, and hurt so much that Alessa winds up falling forward in pain. “Y-y-you’re not even trying to trust Daddy! I don’t know why you have to b-b-be so mean to me! I-I-I just want my daddy!!”, Cheryl chokes out between sobs.

Alessa begins to cry herself. She can still feel the God inside of her twisting and forming and waiting to be born. She looks down at the grated ground and watches her tears fall through the holes in the grating. When she’s composed herself she speaks, “Sometimes we have to make a sacrifice in order to do the right thing.”

“Sacrifice?” Cheryl asks.

“I’m sorry Cheryl, but in order to destroy this god and save the world I need you too, because you are me!” Alessa explains.

Cheryl whimpers, and starts sobbing again. “You mean I’ll never see my daddy again? Or any of my friends? I’ll never get to eat icecream again, or go to sleepovers, or show off my things at show and tell? I’ll never have daddy read me stories, or get to go to the amusement park?”

Hearing this Alessa starts sobbing. Wave after wave of guilt comes crashing down on her. The god laughs. With a silent determination she swears an oath to Cheryl. No matter if they die defeating the god, Alessa will do everything in her power to give Cheryl a new chance at life with Harry. If she can’t she’ll make damn sure that the god bends to her will. She made the demon Flauros do it after all. After all, what can you do when you have to deal with people?
