Kyon walked up to Yuki, Mikuru, and Itsuki, who were all sitting on a public bench, at 6:00 AM.

"Oh good," Kyon said in relief. "I got here before Haruhi. Maybe now, I won't get a 'late penalty' for the SOS Brigade rendezvous at 9:00 AM."

Haruhi ran up, out of breath, behind Kyon. Her face fell when she saw that all her underlings had escaped her late penalty. "Damn it!!" she said out loud.

"The worst part is," Mikuru said sadly, "after this, to avoid Haruhi's late penalties, we'll have to meet the night before the next morning meeting."
