[January 26] [Avatar: The Last Airbender] Sayings
Title: Sayings
Day/Theme: January 26/better three hours too soon than a minute too late
Series: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Character/Pairing: Zuko and Aang
Rating: G
Note: Very silly. Contains Western Air Temple spoilers.
Word Count: 165
Aang sat up suddenly in the darkened stone room. “What? Who is it?”
Zuko smiled. “It’s time for firebending practice, Aang. Come on.”
“Uh… Zuko? No one wants to master firebending as much as I do. But the sun isn’t even up yet. And it’s raining!”
“Come on! It’s like my Uncle Iroh used to say, ‘Better three hours too soon than a minute too late!’”
“When did he say that?”
“When he used to wake me up in the middle of the night to practice firebending.”
As Aang followed Zuko out of the temple and through the wet muddy grass, he asked, “Did your uncle ever say anything that actually made sense?”
Zuko though a moment. “He used to say “If you practice firebending in the rain, you won’t set anyone’s hair on fire.”
“I guess that makes sense…” said Aang hesitantly. “Except that you made it up.”
“Well, yeah, I did,” Zuko confessed.
“And I don’t actually have…”
“Aang?”
“Yes, Zuko?”
“Shut up.”
