Scarlett checked the clock impatiently. It was almost noon, and her guests were not to arrive for another three hours, but it still bothered her that they were not here yet. Being late made her fear that they hadn’t completed the task; that something went wrong.
And she hadn’t said to be at the manor at three. She said by three. If they were later than that, she would make them pay severely.
Ten minutes later, her guests arrived, their victim in hand. Their victim, an Advisor to Kye, the ruler, was shaking with fear.
“What took you?” she demanded.
