“I did the right thing. But I’m still scared,” said Zuko.
His mother brushed her fingers over his forehead. “It isn’t always easy.”
“My friends don’t understand. At least, I want them to be my friends. But they aren’t and—“
Ursa held him close to her. “You’ll be all right. I know you better than anyone, don’t I? And when they know you, they’ll care for you.”
Zuko didn’t move, just sat in his mother’s warmth. And when he woke up alone and cold, remembering that he was no child and his mother was gone, he still felt comforted.
