Day/Theme: August 25: The heart beats on and will not stop

right on the borderline, I know! 11:59 as I type.
He finishes with the dishes around 8 pm, giving a bowl one last swipe with the towel before setting it with its fellows in the cupboard. The house is quiet, the doors and windows all shut and locked for the night. His mother has been home for only two days.
He pulls the plug on the sink and pulls the tie from his hair – red and wavy and thick, and as unlike – well.
There is a rather unassuming little fern on the sill, and he tickles it with his fingertips as he walks by, his footsteps the only sound in the house, other than the light breathing of healthy sleep from his mother’s room. Kurama is only mildly surprised to find the atmosphere peaceful.
