Title: Thievery, Plans, and Love
Day/Theme: January 13/the best article in the market
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Alexandria, Jem, Rey, Chaos, Douglas
Rating: PG
Notes: I don't know how well each characters' personality came out here but I'm hoping you can get a small inkling for how they're like since it's my first time writing all of them together like this.
Their quiet breakfast was interrupted quickly when Alexandria came bounding through the door wildly, her shouts incomprehensible for even Rey to decipher. She gripped the door frame tightly with one hand, while she kept a sturdy grip on the papers in her other hand and tried her best to catch her breath while keeping her eyes locked on the occupants of the table. Jem made a motion to help her but the younger girl shook her head in disagreement and began to walk towards the table. She slammed the papers on the table between Chaos and Douglas and gave everyone a triumphant smile.
"I found our next steal," she shouted happily but she was soon overcome with a large 'shh!' from Rey and felt herself taken aback slightly and muttered an apology.
Chaos picked up the papers and read them aloud, "'Lord Ariele's sea-stone locket is going to be on display in his mansion later in about 3 days for all to see if they have enough money'."
"So he wants to charge money for something that isn't even his?" Jem asked calmly before taking a sip from her cup of hot tea.
Rey's eyes flashed angrily as he slammed his fist on the table. "That's right, that locket belongs to Arietta's grandfather!"
Douglas quickly took a sip of coffee and sighed at the young boy's proclamation. "It doesn't matter pipsqueak. He stole it; it's his now to do whatever he wants with."
Fuming, Rey jumped out of his chair causing it to fall to the ground; Jem tried to restrain him but Alexandria stopped her from interfering with just a glance. Rey gripped the table tightly as he spoke. "So you're saying what he's doing is right? He's allowed to charge people money just to see something that isn't his to begin with?! I knew you used to be a pirate Douglas but I never thought you would start praising what he's done!"
Douglas set down his cup of coffee and shot Rey a slightly irritated frown. "I'm not agreeing with him on anything; I'm just stating the facts. Frankly, I think what he's done is utter bull. Now sit down and stop gripping the table before you get some splinters."
Alexandria resisted the urge to giggle as Rey's face turned red when he picked up his chair, uttered a small apology to Douglas, sat back down, and started to shamefully stir his soup slowly.
"Well with that out of the way," Chaos quickly added in, catching Alexandria's attention, "what exactly are you planning to do my dear? It's not like you to do a charity case."
Alexandria grinned as she plopped herself onto the table in the space next to him. "Oh shut up you; Arietta's a nice girl and needs all the help she can get. I figure the least we could do would be to steal the locket back for her and you know, maybe expose Ariele for the fraud he is," as she said this, the young woman turned to Rey and gave him a playful wink.
Chaos fixed Alexandria with an uncertain look; Jem and Douglas noticed that Rey looked absolutely ecstatic. “How exactly do we get that information out in the open?”
Alexandria shrugged and began to pull her hair into a ponytail. “I haven’t thought about it that far; maybe a tape recording or something. We can talk about it later when the date gets closer. Anyone want to go on a reconnaissance mission with me later so we can be better prepared?”
Chaos pushed his chair back, stood up and flashed Alexandria a flirtatious smile; she rolled her eyes and muttered something about how he always wanted to go on missions with her. Rey hastily flew out of his chair and quickly shouted that he wanted to assist the two of them.
Jem bit her lip lightly and fixed Rey with a soft frown while Douglas chuckled lightly. “You... you actually want to help with a thieving mission?”
Slightly ashamed, Rey cast his eyes downward but Douglas soon stood up, crossed to the other side of the table and gave Rey a rough pat on the shoulder. “Oh don’t baby him all the time Jem. He’s man enough to make his own decisions,” Douglas added a brief cough to the end as he noticed Jem give him a slightly steely look. “Besides, he wants to impress a girl. Who are we to stop him?”
Jem’s face softened a bit as Douglas smiled kindly at her, while Alexandria and Chaos tried their best to hold in their laughter when Rey let out a slightly cracked shout of “SHUT UP!” and ran to the door of his hotel room to hide his embarrassment.
