Well, that's it! All 31 days finished for December!
Thank you everyone who read my stories!

"The new year isn't really very celebrated around here," Sasarai told his visitor.

Lucas seemed somewhat skeptical about this statement, "That's not what I heard from Ket and Hazel. And anyway, it seems much more festive here than it did up in Paquin. Or down in Dimasque."

"Ket loves the new year more than anyone else I know," the shorter bishop explained, "Of course, I think he likes any holiday where he has the license to break out a bottle of champagne."

Lucas chuckled at this remark and seemed about to continue this discussion of the habits of the two inseparable friends, but Sasarai was not willing to let the fact that interested him the most in Lucas' words slip away so easily. "You said you were in Dimasque?" he queried, his voice rising slightly with the question.

"Yep," he replied succinctly. He smiled, but did not elaborate.

However, Sasarai was not keen on letting it go like that. Dimasque was the stronghold of the Orsini family's rivals, the Durantes. It was not somewhere the most noted member of the Orsini would simply go for the fun of it. "What did you do there?"

"Ate lunch, shopped for a new bag for my mother, umm, invited some young Durante fellow to the Counsel's party for the new year as an expression of good will," Lucas slid the most important of these items in after the frivolous ones. Sasarai was not sure if this was a deliberate move or if his friend really saw this activity to be as pointless as the other things he had done in the south.

"Durante who?" Sasarai merely inquired, holding back his nosy frustration that Lucas was not being very forthcoming.

"Some Felice kid," the Orsini man shrugged, "I asked for whoever wanted to come to come, and his mother was very enthusiastic about how her son would be thrilled for the chance."

It seemed that this visitor was going to be quite innocuous. Lucas' time in Dimasque had been as quiet as he had made it out to be. Sasarai was somewhat bemused, but he told himself harshly that he should be happy that there would be no trouble.

"Hope he likes champagne," Sasarai smiled, trying to be fix his pointlessly suspicious mood.

"Hope he likes Ket's toasts and cheering," Lucas offered in response with a hearty laugh.
