[December 29] [Kingdom Hearts] Bittersweet
Title: Bittersweet
Day/Theme: December 29th - "the sweet and the bitter"
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Characters: Leon, Aerith

Bittersweet
Leon never drinks the first cup of coffee.
Aerith hands it to him, smiling wordlessly, and the moment she leaves the room he tips it into the sink. He pours himself another cup and drinks it black, tough and scalding, as relentless as their world is now. He never tells her that he doesn't like milk in his coffee - he's tried to before but she never listens anyway - and now he doesn't want her to know. They've settled into their places, their routine. It's harmless in a place where nothing much is.
So she goes on sweetening his coffee and he'll always say thank you and never mind the bittersweet taste in the back of his throat.
