[Dec. 25, 2007][Original] Culture Shock
Title: Culture Shock
Day/Theme: Dec. 25, 2007 "Commitment is a sin unto one's self"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Shizen & Ihzak Sakurazaki, Tansa and her family
Rating: PG-13
"So, let me get this straight," Shizen verbally backed up, hardly able to accept the situation as true, "The queen of Arradia can sleep with whatever man she wants and as many men as she wants, regardless of what her husband has to say about it?"
"Yep," his father replied tersely.
Shizen's mouth fell open and just stayed that way as the queen and her family laughed at his shock. What kind of messed up country was this, he wondered. "...So men can..." he ventured, allowing Crown Princess Tansa to fill in the rest.
"They can only do what their wives or mothers allow them to do," she complied, ending the statement with what almost seemed a smug smirk to the young Harmonian.
"Ugh, Dad, I want to go back now," he shuddered.
"Bah!" General Sakurazaki harrumphed, "You're a poor sport, Shizen. And I can't cut this diplomatic mission short just because you're in a hurry to run back to Sasami."
"Who's Sasami?" piped up the wide-eyed prince.
"His girlfriend," Ihzak answered in his son's place.
"I bet he always bosses her around," Tansa said disapprovingly.
"Yeah, she's nothing like you," the general chuckled.
Shizen, about to snap out a sharp reply, remembered at the last moment to hold his tongue. This was a good will mission and his father wouldn't stand up for him if the queen or any other royal person took offense and decided to have him imprisoned or otherwise punished. Mad at having to rein his temper in, he sulked.
Prince Consort Rama ben Iris teased his stepdaughter. "He's exactly your type, Tansa! I know you love to tame a man!"
Shizen would have expected even this wild princess to be embarrassed at that remark, but instead Tansa laughed, and her family laughed along with her.
"I can't believe this country!" Shizen fumed under his breath, "The women are hot, but this is all so f-"
"Watch yourself now, young man," the prince consort counseled wisely.
"I didn't hear what he said," Prince Takeyo said to his sister.
"That's good," Tansa huffed, "It's not a word for noble people to use!" ...But when her eyes met Shizen's again, they twinkled.
