[Dec. 19, 2007][Suikoden IV] Trouble Comes in Threes
Title: Trouble Comes in Threes
Day/Theme: Dec. 19, 2007 "Separation anxiety"
Series: Suikoden IV
Character/Pairing: Eugene, Rita, Noah, Rene, Louise
Rating: PG
Eugene already missed his mother. He hadn't wanted to leave Na-Nal. He had told her repeatedly that he wasn't ready, but she hadn't listened to him. In a potent combination of feeling her son wouldn't succeed until he left home and that he was an untidy pain around the house, Eugene's mother had forced him on Koji to toughen him up.
"Play a game? Take your mind off things?" Rita inquired, shaking her heavy bag of ritapon tiles.
"No thanks," the pale-haired boy sighed. He had terrible luck and in his misery, he could only fare badly. The last thing he wanted now was to squander his measly allowance losing horribly to the perky, game-playing girl.
"What's wrong, Eugene?" Noah piped up squeakily. The cat-eared girl and her friend, Rene the treasure hunter, hung cheerily over Rita's shoulder.
Eugene frowned. They seemed to have come out of nowhere and with mischievous girls like this, unusual surprises were never a good thing. "...Uh, n-nothing...I'm okay," he stuttered.
Rene adjusted her spectacles, "You look sad. ...Do you miss your family?"
He shuffled his feet. "Y-yes," he admitted.
The three girls' eyes lit up and they looked around from one to the other, brimming with giggles. "We'll make you feel better, Eugene!" Noah assured him, and before the unfortunate boy could let out a peep in response, they had him in their grasp and dragged him away to their quarters.
"That's the third young fellow we've lost this week," Louise said to no one in particular as she wiped down the bar. She didn't dare try and stop the wild girls for fear of receiving a similar fate. The pretty barkeep had heard the screams of those forced into Rita's backroom games of "House."
