[Aug. 25th: The heart beats on and will not stop][Gundam SEED] Infinite
Title: Infinite
Day/Theme: Aug. 25th: The heart beats on and will not stop
Series: Gundam SEED
Character/Pairing: Lacus, and Kira.
Rating: G
She knows he doesn't love her. Right now it doesn't matter. Her heart burns with so much love that she thinks that there is enough to go around for the both of them, anyway. Her heart, it seems, desires to be broken. When she takes breath it is with much pain and effort, because it feels like her lungs are too tight for her chest, her chest seems too small for her heart.
He looks at her, puzzled at the desperation he sees in her eyes. Her heart is constricting even as she wills it away. She doesn't need to be loved by him, she tells herself, but oh how she does.
"Kira," she says. But, Kira, what? Kira, take care? Kira, I love you? Kira, love me, too? Kira--
"Come back, please," she says instead. "Come back to me."
Her heart is pulling her to say something more, but there's so much left to say that she doesn't know where to begin. Her heart is the one that urges her to say his name just one more time, because her heart cannot, will not bear it if he leaves just this way.
But he kisses her cheek and tells her to take care, before he turns his back on her and leaves.
As she watches him go she can feel her heart beating. It beats on regardless of whether what it feels is returned or not. Her heart sustains her, and the hope that he might come back, and the hope that he might love her, also.
