Dwelling in the past was never a good thing, that much she knew. Figuring a way to move on, however, was too great of a challenge.

That big mess of painful emotions had been carved into her soul the moment she perished, with the very same hellfire that had once consumed her human body along with the Shikon no Tama. Even now, they still haunted and flooded her memory more often than she would like, and every time the former priestess saw her beloved with that girl, she could not help but drown in a mix of jealousy, anger and sorrow.

It was inevitable. It was hopeless to waste any more efforts and keep trying. In the end, it was all in vain.

No matter how long it had been, she was – she would always be - still terribly attached to the world she left, and to all the experiences – good and bad – that she had gone through during her tragically shortened lifespan. Strive as she might, Kikyou knew she would be bound to the past throughout the whole of her new existence, for only those with a future could move on.

And for the dead, time had forever stopped.
