Vincent had described their first meeting to her, a meeting Catherine hadn't really been able to appreciate at the time, having been somewhat preoccupied by the whole near death thing. It made her blush, the way he talked about her. He made her sound like something remarkable, something beautiful, something life-changing - and it wasn't flattery, or at least he didn't seem to intend it that way. He thought he was just speaking plainly, and simply, and honestly, and that made it all the more embarrassing.
And wonderful.
But it was still so hard for her to believe that he thought she was the remarkable one, when he'd transformed her life in so many ways - hell, saved her life in so many ways! Without even knowing her, the man had taken her into his home, trusted her with his secrets. He nursed her to health, he watched over her, he even read poetry with that soft look in his eyes, that gentle voice... and to think, he thought she was the beautiful one.
