That Second of Anticipation
It’s just been a stop in the road, a breathless moment of wonder, like a passerby stopping to watch a flower bloom, a sun rise. There’s nothing special about it. Those things happen everyday and they’ll go on happening even after the moment has passed. Sasuke inhales with his acceptance into Team 7 and exhales as he steps past Konoha’s gates with the intention never to return.
It was all just a distraction, he tells himself. His life until now has only been that second of anticipation, that vagabond awaiting sentence.
Sasuke’s moved past it. He’s breathing again.
