Naomi had never wanted to be human. She knew of some cyborgs that broke their engineered hearts hoping and trying to be what they looked like. She had felt sorry for them. She was closer to being human than them, but didn’t care.
But all it had taken was the brush of lips against her own synthetic skin to make her more aware of her cybernetic parts than she had ever been. Now for the first time, it wasn’t enough to police and hide among the humans. She still didn’t really want to be one, but she wanted to be accepted by them. Or at least by one of them.
