She was doing it again. He watched her smirk as he poured her tea. She was reading the latest correspondence from the Vatican and wearing ‘that’ look. The smug little smile that said ‘Do your worst. If I said so, not one of you would see tomorrow’.
Power still gave him a thrill, even if it wasn’t his own. Sometimes, he wondered if his Master had the same tingle. The danger was that the power she enjoyed wasn’t her own either.
He had warned her before about trusting Alucard too much, relying too much on his loyalty, assuming entirely too much. It was hard to be cautious with that kind of power at your beck and call, and he knew it. Fortunately, Integra never allowed herself to enjoy it too much. Outwardly. Unless you were counting that smirk.
