[Oct 31][Naruto] Incensitivity

Title: Incensitivity
Day/Theme: 31/Ofrenda
Series: Naruto
Character/Pairing: Namikaze Minato(Yondaime Hokage)/ Uchiha Shisui
Rating: G

With the ease of years of practice, Minato puts in the incense in the holders, hands steady as always. He kneels before the tombstone, simply carved with the characters for "Namikaze", and clasps his hands together in a moment of silent prayer. Wordlessly, Shisui passes him the ladle and bucket, and with a single swift movement, he douses the stone with water.

It is Shisui who lights the incense, as she has always done since the first time he visited his parents' grave as a child. He is more comfortable with the breeze on his skin than the unrelenting heat of flames, so Shisui takes it upon herself instead. (The Uchiha are the greatest users of fire jutsu, after all, though Shisui does not particularly care for it. She thinks of herself as a cold flame, when she feels introspective. Not that it happens often, because there is nothing like introspective to lower a ninja's will to live, to fight, that makes them see nothing but a thousand shades of red. But when she does allow herself-)

Shisui lowers herself next to Minato, and helps him place the rice cakes and tea they made together before the grave, as the incense-smoke drifts slowly to heaven.

Walking back to the Uchiha compound, Shisui asks him for the first time why he always takes her along for a time when most would want privacy.

Minato blinks at her and looks geniunely surprised by the question, as if the answer is as obvious as the grass being green or the sky being blue.

"Well, it's the only way I can bring you to meet my parents." He replies, smiling sunnily at her slight flush. Shisui's lips twitch a little in response, torn between a smile and a scowl. It isn't until they reach the gate that she gives him an answer.

"Then..." Shisui trails off as she traces a scar on his hand with a slender finger, "Then come with me to the temple next month and I'll introduce you to mine."
