Zuko had always wanted to be a legend.
He remembers his mother telling him stories about great acts of family bravery, tales handed down through generations.
He remembers being tested on them by tutors, expecting him to recall detailed accounts of these endeavors; he remembers the feel of their rods on his back when he answered incorrectly.
He remembers old men sitting at a Pai Shou table, recounting tales of the war, recounting tales of their scars.
Zuko has given up on becoming a legend. Almost.
(He slides on his mask and vanishes into the night.)
