Jay is smiling.
To say that Moses finds this disconcerting is a gross understatement. Jay never smiles. Not unless he's enjoying someone else's pain, and Moses is pretty content at the moment, so that can't be it. But there he is, grinning away (for Jay, at least), corners of his mouth quirked up as he peruses his papers (that Moses is Not Allowed To Look At, Or I'll Kill You, Bandit.)
"Jay?"
Jay attempts to quirk his mouth back down. It doesn't quite work. "What, bandit?"
"Can you stop...smilin' like that? It's kind of creepy..."
Jay ducks behind the aforementioned papers for several seconds. When he comes back up, the faint smile is gone, replaced by the trademark scowl. Moses is vaguely impressed. "I don't know what you're talking about, bandit. This is an expression of horror and disgust. See?"
"Uh..."
"Also, you will get your arm off me right now. Before I decide to cut it off."
Moses obeys. He likes his arm right where it is, thank you very much.
Jay remains in a sullen mood for the rest of the day. Moses doesn't quite get it until Norma explains it to him a few days later.
