[Sept. 20, 2007][Original] An Ideal Can Fill the Room
Title: An Ideal Can Fill the Room
Day/Theme: Sept. 20, 2007 "Your heart is an empty room"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Kojiro, Ditto, Wind-Bell
Rating: PG-13-ish
Despite their efforts to send the nosy onlookers home, the crowd had only grown. Wind-Bell was beginning to feel anxious to get out of there, but she continued to wait for Kojiro's return. When he came, his yellow tunic was turned deep red from blood. And though his rapier also looked a bit crimson, this was his blood. "Kojiro! What happened to you?" Wind-Bell exclaimed. She wrapped an arm around him for support.
"It's not too...Well, we've got to get home," he winced.
Ditto look back at the riot one last time before hurrying along with the generous pair to the Nire home.
Kojiro grimaced as Wind-Bell did her best to gently tend to his wound. She could see that the injury had come from a larger blade than the kind Kojiro carried, more like the standard issue Imperial Army sword. She frowned, both fearful of the trouble her master had found and sympathetic to his pain.
Ditto stood awkwardly apart from them looking at his boots. "...Um..." he mumbled.
"Wh-ow! What is it?" Kojiro snapped, more from the sting of the soap than from anger.
"I...uh..." Ditto whispered, hanging his head even lower.
Wind-Bell reach around with a clean strip of linen, pulling the bandage tight around Kojiro's shoulder. Kojiro was young and tough, so she was sure he would heal quickly.
"Just spit it out," the youth demanded.
"Thanks for help," Ditto answered calmly, suddenly collecting himself, "If I stay you may find trouble." He turned towards the door as if he were going to leave the house and strike out into the night on his own.
"Find trouble?" Kojiro laughed, "I've already got it!" He glanced at his bloody tunic lying on the table. It was probably ruined beyond repair. "I wounded a few imperial soldiers," he shrugged nonchalantly, "So they'll probably show up to haul me off anyway."
"Kojiro!" Wind-Bell gasped in shock.
Surprise was written clearly across Ditto's face too. "You were trying to help?"
Kojiro shrugged again, then flinched at the pain in his shoulder. "This war's dragged on way too long. If it were up to me, I'd get every one of you people from Hollarn out of here and back home. They're treating you like their personal slaves! No one should be treated like that. ...Of course, you made be underfed, but you were all pretty tough...Barely even needed my help." Kojiro smiled, not mentioning how none of the Hollarns had weapons or wondering if they even had a plan for when they got away.
