[Sept. 17, 2007][Suikoden III] Tea Talk
Title: Tea Talk
Day/Theme: Sept. 17, 2007 "You bring out the sunshine underground"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Sarah, Luc, Albert, and Yuber
Rating: G
Yuber was smug, Albert was silent, Luc was somber, but Sarah was sunshine. She certainly didn't feel like the light or warmth or brightness she associated with the sun, but it was all a matter of perspective. Sometimes you can't tell how you effect other people, particularly if you feel so differently from how others are experiencing your presence.
Sarah made a pot of tea and it whistled loudly. The sound annoyed Albert, so Yuber said he enjoyed it just to be perverse. Luc picked up the pot with a frilly pot-holder and set it to the side.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" Sarah apologized, taking the teapot and pouring four steaming cups full.
"No need to be sorry," Luc monotoned, taking his cup as it was.
Albert furtively added two sugar cubes to his tea and Yuber took a sip and decided a drop or two of blood would add to the flavor. No one was willing to volunteer theirs for this purpose, to his mild disappointment.
Sarah put a sugar cube in her tea and stirred it. The men were lost in their own thoughts, so she spoke up. "Do you think General Rimini will help us out?"
It wasn't that she cared what anyone but Luc thought on the matter, or that she was in any way adverse to silence, but she felt it was better for morale to have some conversation. Perhaps Luc could continue on in a cloud of gloom all the way to the end, but she needed to alleviate her anxiety somehow.
"He'll do it," Albert allowed a small chuckle to slip out.
"Why?" Yuber inquired casually, leaning back in his chair.
"I just know," the strategist held out.
"Because he's an expansionist, perhaps," Luc suggested.
"That could be it," the redhead replied.
"It doesn't matter why he does it as long as he does," Sarah murmured into her cup. No one else heard as they had become engaged in an exchange of information concerning Apallan Rimini.
Sarah didn't mind. It was more important to her that they were talking. She was still down, but they were happy.
Author's side note: I think I need a Sarah icon now that I'm writing about her so much.
