[August 22] [Harry Potter] Moonlight
Title: Moonlight
Day/Theme: August 22/This red, red moon
Series: Harry Potter
Character: Bill
Rating: PG
The moon shone through the windows of the hospital wing, and when Bill opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was that moonlight.
The room was empty save for Fleur, the light casting a soft glow on her silver hair where she lay curled up against his bed. He'd tried to convince her to go home and get some rest, the first time he'd woken up, but she'd have none of it. And to be honest, he hadn't tried all that hard.
He shifted to rest one hand lightly on her hair, and she murmured something in her sleep, then was silent. He closed his eyes, listening to the sound of her breathing, taking in the scent of her. When his eyes opened again, they were automatically drawn back to the window, and the sliver of moonlight shining through.
The moon wasn't full, not yet. But hey, he was probably okay. He thought he was okay. And when anyone was around and awake to hear, he'd say he was okay. But there wasn't anyone around or awake now, just him and the moonlight, and he wouldn't really know, would he. Not until the full moon.
He was probably okay.
Anyway, Lupin was a real-deal werewolf, and he was all right, wasn't he? Sure, he had trouble getting jobs, and some people were idiots about him, but he was an all right guy, got along well with everyone - well, with the Weasleys and the Order, at least. So no matter what happened, it wasn't like it was the end of the world. Worst effect was the scars, really, and Fleur certainly hadn't seemed to mind those. Quite the opposite; it was just a shame he was stuck healing up in this hospital bed and not someplace with a little more privacy.
He smiled down at her, running his fingers through her hair. She was one hell of a woman, and he knew he was damned lucky to have her. So it was kind of strange how, with this beautiful, wonderful woman lying next to him, his eyes were drawn once again to that crescent in the sky.
But he was probably okay, right? Yeah, he'd be okay.
Probably.
