Zuko brushed his fingers awkwardly across Mai's cheek. Despite how much they've been through together and how much he'd grown up, there was still a certain uncertain air around him with everyone but Iroh. Or maybe it was because of how much he'd healed; it was as if he was aware of what he had and was frightened of losing it.

Mai grabbed his wrist and held it between her hands. Brushing one of her thumbs against the bone of his wrist she gave him a small smile before leaning over to kiss the corner of his mouth. Usually it would turn into something more heated quickly enough, but this time he just closed his eyes.

"I love you," he said when she pulled away.

She pulled his hand towards her chest and leaned over to press her head into the crook of his neck. "I love you too."
