“I really wish you would get a clue,” the redhead growled. Her blonde companion was just happy to escape without a fist connecting anywhere to his head. He shrugged and fell into step behind her.

“I’ve never met anyone as thick as you!” She was stomping down the road, waving her hands angrily. “If it wasn’t for the Sword of Light-”

“Wait!” He stopped in his tracks. “What if it wasn’t?”

“What?” She turned around to glare at him.

“What if it wasn’t for the Sword of Light?” He looked wide-eyed. “Then what?”

“Then I would…” She let her voice trail off without a threat, but gave him swat to the head to make up for it. She’d been with him too long to even pretend to threaten him with leaving. “You know!” she finished lamely.

“Yeah,” he managed a smile as he rubbed his head. “I guess I do.”
