Sae had never been much good at anything before the Magic Club. Even now, her grasp of magic wasn’t nearly as good as she would’ve liked. Even Nanaka, who was only there to be close to Aburatsubo, had better success. Sae might’ve given up if the struggle hadn’t felt as right as it did.
Even if she wasn’t very good at it, magic fit as nothing else had. Maybe part of it was Takeo, as if he was the one she fit with. But the magic was part of him, and it fit into the parts of her heart that had been empty before.
