[Sept. 6, 2007][Suikoden] A Regular Customer
Title: A Regular Customer
Day/Theme: Sept. 6, 2007 Used to your streets
Series: Suikoden
Character/Pairing: Sasarai and two employees of a cafe
Rating: G
"Look over at that man," Sally said, gesturing across the cafe with her slender hand.
Chima followed her fingertips to a small brunette leaning his face against his left hand. He was reading a document with curled corners and kept idly stirring his tea with his free hand. He looked young and studious.
"That's one of the bishops," Sally declared proudly. Chima had only recently moved to Crystal Valley from the countryside near Paquin, so her cousin knew she would be impressed at her knowledge of such a fine person.
The bishop wrinkled his nose and squinted at the paper.
Chima could not help but smile. "Which one?" she whispered excitedly. "How do you know?"
"He comes here all the time," Sally replied, "He doesn't come in uniform and he's always very low key, but once he showed up with a blond military man who kept calling him "Your Excellency." He's Sasarai."
"So that's Sasarai," the younger woman echoed, looking at him more carefully in an effort to put his face to memory. He had a neat haircut and deep green eyes. There wasn't anything about him that really would have indicated that he was a bishop if Sally had not overheard that he was. He seemed much younger than they said he was.
"Why don't you go over and ask if he'd like anything to eat with that tea?" Sally asked. "And if it's gotten cold, maybe he'd like some more of that too."
"Me, talk to a bishop?" Chima giggled. The idea was just too much! ...But she did want to do it. She pulled out her notepad and pencil and approached him.
"Excuse me, sir," she began, trying not to laugh nervously right in front of him, "Would you like anything else?"
His eyes hovered over the paper a few seconds longer like he was trying to finish a sentence before he looked up. He smiled just a bit and shook his head. "No thank you. I'm okay." He came here more to think than to eat. It was just a place to go to get away from the Temple.
"Oh, alright," Chima answered and hurried back to the counter where Sally was grinning at her.
"Sally! Did you know he wouldn't want anything? Did you just send me over there to make me feel silly?"
"Well," Sally shrugged, "You got to speak with a bishop, didn't you?"
