Kiyone was getting dressed for her Earth part-time job. "Have you seen my other shoe?" she asked Mihoshi.

Mihoshi opened her bottom dresser drawer, rummaged through it, and pulled out Kiyone's shoe. "Here it is."

Kiyone raised an eyebrow. "Why was it in the— oh, never mind. Toss it here, would you?"

"'Kay." Mihoshi threw the shoe, and missed Kiyone by at least a meter. The shoe smashed through a closed apartment window and sailed out into the street. A moment later, Kiyone and Mihoshi overheard car horns, screeching tires, and a yowling cat.

"I'm confiscating your gun," Kiyone said.
