[September 2] [Naruto] Right in Front of Me

Title: Right in Front of Me

Naruto's lips were chapped and dry. His strong fingers had calluses and were slightly sweaty. If Gaara's eyes weren't closed he would have noticed that not all of Naruto was tanned, some of it was burned red.

What stuck out the most, though, was the way Gaara felt, being touched and close the someone so important.

They woke up in bed together. They were still so very close, almost as much as the night before. Later, Gaara will find himself touching his lips and skin, wondering at why it was still buzzing.

Naruto turned on his back and lifted his hands up, as if to block the light from the overhead lamp.

"Without him, I might have been like you," Naruto muttered.

It's nice to have someone who doesn't tiptoe around his past, Gaara realized before he took Naruto's wrists in his hands and pulled them back down and said,"That's why you'll save him."

Naruto rolled on top of him, and he grinned. A real one. Gaara thought it had been too long since he'd seen that on those lips.

"I'll see you later," Naruto said, his fingers touching Gaara's lightly before he pulled away.

Gaara nodded and watched him walk away with his team; and wished he knew how to say 'goodbye'.
