Chloe has never been a particularly demonstrative person, but it seems perfectly natural to put her hand on Shirley's shoulder, to have Shirley's head in her lap as they talk, to run her fingers through Shirley's hair.
"I'm glad we became friends," says Shirley one day, leaning slightly against Chloe. She is smiling shyly. "I always feel like I can talk to you."
"I'm glad, as well," says Chloe, and she begins to wonder if she doesn't have the tendency to fall in love with the most unfortunate people possible.
My apologies if this doesn't really fit the theme; I have this tendency to go on tangents.
